Message From The President
Dear TxGAP Members,
It is an honor to serve as the President of TxGAP during such a pivotal time for graduate admissions and enrollment management in Texas. My name is Victor Lopez, and I am a scholar and higher education researcher currently pursuing my PhD at Texas A&M University. Alongside my studies, I serve as the Assistant Director for Professional Education at Baylor University.
What drives my leadership in this role is a deep commitment to transformative leadership. Too often, we hear about transformation, but it’s rarely put into action in ways that create real, lasting change. My goal is to lead TxGAP with a bold vision that allows us to innovate in areas where our professional roles may not always afford us the same flexibility. I firmly believe that through our collective efforts, TxGAP can become the standard for Texas Graduate Enrollment Management.
I am passionate about pushing TxGAP to encompass the full funnel of Graduate Enrollment Management (GEM) rather than just focusing on top-of-funnel initiatives. Our work should highlight not only the roles of recruiters and advisors, but also the contributions of professionals in marketing, policy, market research, alumni engagement, curriculum development, faculty collaboration, and so much more. Every aspect of the graduate enrollment journey deserves recognition and investment.
I also believe that TxGAP should be a place where we continue to dig into the areas that are often being erased or overlooked at our institutions. This organization exists not just to grow professionals, but also to cultivate individuals of high character. Through our work, we can foster growth that transcends job titles and strengthens the very core of who we are as leaders.
As we look to the future, we will continue to invest in our conference, professional development, member services, and expanded visibility and marketing capabilities. Together, we can elevate our profession, drive meaningful change, and build a community that thrives on excellence, innovation, and integrity.
I am excited for the journey ahead and am confident in the bright future we will create for TxGAP. Thank you for your dedication and support.
Sincerely,
Victor Lopez
President, TxGAP
